Pharmacies Meet Regulatory Expectations

The Medication Compounding Certification program helps organizations reduce risk and harm, ensure USP compliance, discover and resolve hidden gaps in policies and procedures, and demonstrate excellence through compliance with 91Ï㽶¶ÌÊÓƵ and USP standards for medication compounding. The standards will be modified as needed to remain consistent with technology advancements and USP regulation changes.

The Medication Compounding Certification program is designed to:

  • Evaluate a pharmacy’s compliance with standards based on compounding requirements of USP chapters <797> (sterile preparations), <795> (nonsterile preparations) and <800> (hazardous drugs — a new requirement that must be implemented by December, 2019)
  • Provide on-site reviews at least once every two years
  • Offer specialized reviews, completed by pharmacist surveyors who have specific training to evaluate compliance

Collaborate with 91Ï㽶¶ÌÊÓƵ for Compliance

Michigan law now requires pharmacies providing sterile compounding services to obtain certification as a means of validating compliance with USP <797> and <795>. The Michigan Board of Pharmacy has approved 91Ï㽶¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Medication Compounding Certification program as an option for pharmacies in meeting the certification requirement.

Joint 91Ï㽶¶ÌÊÓƵ standards are recognized as the most rigorous in the industry — our surveyors and reviewers are some of the most knowledgeable in their field, and our accredited and certified organizations rank among the top in their markets. No other “seal of approval” is as widely recognized by peers, payers, insurers, and the public as The Gold Seal of Approval® from 91Ï㽶¶ÌÊÓƵ.

We’re available to work with your pharmacy board, professional association and pharmacies to evaluate pharmacy compounding practices and to ensure they comply with USP compliance requirements.
